The paper begins with an examination of three ideal types citizenship which are not necessarily mutual exclusive. first type is national citizenship, typically associated ethno-nationalism. second form social or ‘welfare citizenship’ refers to the creation rights and closely connected civil-society institutions rather than state market. third identifies citizen participation in work force emphasizing self-reliance autonomy. In this discussion, I argue that economic globalization development neo-liberal strategies various forms have converged towards a new model passive has withdrawn from commitment full employment provision security, especially universal welfare services, been eroded. result emergence apolitical,isolated as consumer. fourth presupposes consumer society, weak decline civic institutions, where becomes privatized goods services. rise – consumer-citizen can be interpreted logical consequence financialization.1
